Zispin soltab tablets 45mg Why do I need this medicine? Mirtazapine helps you to cope with feelings of depression.

How do I take this medicine? Take Mirtazapine exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Do not take Mirtazapine for a longer period of time than instructed by your doctor.

You may need to take Mirtazapine for some time before the full benefits can be felt. Continue taking it even when you feel better and do not stop taking it unless advised by your doctor to do so.

Mirtazapine must be taken as directed for it to work well. Do not stop taking it unless instructed by your doctor. Your condition may worsen if the medicine is stopped suddenly. If your doctor decides you no longer need Mirtazapine, he will usually reduce the dose slowly.

Mirtazapine is available as a conventional tablet or orally disintegrating tablet.

If you have been given the conventional tablet, swallow it whole. Do not chew or crush it.

If you have been given the orally disintegrating tablet, remove it from the foil only just before you take it. Peel off the foil starting from one of the corners. Do not push the tablet out from the foil as this may crush it. Place the tablet directly on your tongue. It will dissolve quickly. Swallow it once it has dissolved. Do not chew, cut or crush it. The orally disintegrating tablet can be taken with or without water. This tablet is easily broken. Handle it gently. Do not touch the tablet with wet hands. Once the tablet has been removed from the foil, it cannot be kept.

You may take Mirtazapine with or without food. Try to take it at the same time each day. What should I do if I have forgotten to take this medicine? DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember.

If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.

If you often forget to take your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know. Can I take this with other medicines? Do not take Mirtazapine if you are taking or have taken other mood medicines known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last 14 days. Some examples of MAOIs include isocarboxazid, phenelzine, moclobemide, selegiline and tranylcypromine. Alert your doctor immediately if you are taking or have taken any of these medicines or other MAOIs.


Do not take with clonidine (an antihypertensive) and sibutramine (an anti-obesity medicine).

Alert the doctor quickly if you are taking the following medicines:
- sleeping pills or anxiety medication such as diazepam, alprazolam or similar
- mood medicines such as nefazodone, venlafaxine
- psychiatric medicines such as olanzapine
- gastric medicine such as cimetidine
- blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin
- antibiotics such as linezolid, erythromycin
- antifungals such as ketoconazole
- HIV medicines such as indinavir, ritonavir
- medicines that cause drowsiness such as morphine, tramadol, codeine or hay fever medicines

Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. How should I store this medicine? Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.

When should I not use this medicine? Do not take Mirtazapine if you are taking or have taken other mood medicines known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) in the last 14 days. Some examples of MAOIs include isocarboxazid, phenelzine, moclobemide, selegiline and tranylcypromine. Alert your doctor immediately if you are taking or have taken any of these medicines or other MAOIs.

Mirtazapine is not meant for use in children and teenagers. What should I take note of while using this medicine? Alert the doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant while being treated with Mirtazapine. Use effective birth control methods while being treated with Mirtazapine.

Alert the doctor if you are breastfeeding.

Alert the doctor if you have any of these conditions:

- liver, kidney or heart disease
- chest pain or recent heart attack
- low blood pressure
- history of epilepsy (fits) or head injury
- other psychiatric conditions such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia
- history of alcoholism or drug addiction
- diabetes
- glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes)
- prostate enlargement or problems passing urine

If you are going for an operation, including minor operations and dental work, inform your doctor or dentist that you are taking Mirtazapine. Are there any restrictions on the type of food I can take? Avoid alcohol.

MIRTAZAPINE

What side effects could I experience? Alert your doctor quickly if you have suicidal thoughts. Seek help quickly from your doctor and caregivers. This may occur more frequently at the start of treatment and when your dose is being adjusted.

Mirtazapine may make you drowsy or dizzy. If you feel drowsy or dizzy, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Mirtazapine may also cause headache, dry mouth, constipation, nausea, increased appetite, weight gain, problems sleeping, rash and tiredness. Alert your doctor if any of these side effects are severe or if they do not go away.

Other side effects are not common but may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor immediately if you experience:
- fast or irregular heartbeat
- confusion or feeling disoriented
- fever
- breathlessness
- yellowing of the white area of the eye
- fits or seizures
- severe mood changes
- excitability
- restlessness
- fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers or other signs of infection
